it seems there's a little something you can do with the seahorses in Arnassi Ruins? looks like some kind of herding puzzle involving song plants. am i reading too much into this?
-
There's no such puzzle, and yes, you are reading too much into this. :)
-
Well, there is a race, if you haven't figured out already. :)
-
You are not the only one to think so, when I first encountered a song plant, I also thought there was something you could do with it. They change color according to the notes Najia sings, but it seems they only exist as eye candy.
Well, "only..." Eye candy is, of course, rather important!
-
Just like those big trumpets that echo your music, and the tall but small mushrooms, which tops change colour to which you sing, and then finally some kelp that changes colour quite obviously when you sing near it.
-
yeah, figured out the race thing pretty much as soon as i entered, used fish form + hot soup.
either way, i guess i was hoping for more concrete puzzles XD

Well it diverted you for a short while lol I love little side events like that which is why I have always loved the Myst and Uru series of games :D Though Uru was a bit of a dissapointment in that field :(

lol
I've tried herding as well, but then I "figured out" ;) that it is the opportunity to complete the gauntlet in the "proper" way ;D - which I thought was, of course, on the back of the seahorse (I was REALLY suspicious - when you change onto the spirit form, you can see that the ball of light running around is in fact the seahorse-creature ghost :))
I've managed to beat my own record (first time I used the fish form, like all of you did), but then that was it ...
Horse race was fun, though (although controlling it was quite tricky at the beginning)
-
Were you able to beat the time engraved at the base of the race circuit? Once you do, you'll receive a suit that increases the speed of the seahorses and lets you pass through currents.
-
hmm... I've managed to beat the record engraved on the rock, hence the seahorse armour, but was there anything else? I've managed to beat my own record (newly engraved in the rock) as well, but nothing happened then...
PS: I've had the beast form already, so passing currents was not an issue

...was there anything else?...
SPOILER WARNING: GUIDE TO ARNASSI RUINSThere are only three things you need to retrieve in the Arnassi Ruins once you complete the circuit: a plant seed treasure, the Crab Armor (guarded by an enormous crab) and the third cooking slot. To find the first, explore the small chambers with glowing kelp; the seed is a sphere with suction cups. For the second, continue upwards into the large chamber with an air bubble trapped under the ceiling. Continue left, and you'll see the Arnassi Crab (I won't spoil the rest for you). You need the Fish Form to get the third cooking slot, so if you don't have it, now would be a good time to revisit the Kelp Forest. Travel to the far right end of the Arnassi Ruins and bump against the walls in fish form. You will eventually find a thin tunnel leading to a secret sea turtle. Ride the sea turtle to the Simon Says boss (he can't hurt you), and beat the memory challenge to get the slot.
PS: I've had the beast form already, so passing currents was not an issue
Passing currents with the Seahorse allows you to bring him into areas you weren't able to before.

I've already had all these (crab armour, seahorse suit, third cooking slot and the seed treasure) when I played the gauntlet on the back of the seahorse, I was only curious of the other people experiences with the gauntlet.
Thanks for the advice but I am soooooo glad I didn't read it before I did it myself. I've only read a few posts that seemed to relate to the things I've already done quite a while ago, to avoid spoilers. I think I'll leave the forum until I've finished the game.
Thanks anyway, I will certainly be back to share/gain experience but only after my first time :)

I think that's a smart choice. I only joined the forums after I've won, although I used to look through the forum for hints on how to beat certain places I attempted to avoid topics with the spoiler tag.
