Hi everybody.
I found something interesting in the veil. I think it's some kind of "fish-shape submarine". When I touched it, there was some sound effects, then I opened the map screen and saw a lot of blue bubbles appeared in the left part of the veil. I can't figure out how to do with it. Could anyone help?

The submarine is nothing but scenery that was supposedly Li's submarine. I believe it wasn't there in a earlier version.
Further, those 'bubbles' on your map are hints of where you should go next, but I don't really understand why it's pointing at somewhere where you have already been, seeing you have Li.
-
Huh, I never came across that submarine. So that's how Li was going to go about finding sunken city.
-
I was wondering if that was new.

I was wondering if that was new.
me too... but it's not likely. It's just that our brains aren't big enough (or trained enough) to remember all the stuff you can find in there. :) I totally forgot about the big yellow sea slugs too, for example.

Speak for yourself, Xiagan.
There might have been a slight chance that I bolted past that thing without seeing it, but I remember when I see things again, especially pictures. I just know I haven't seen it before, not until version 1.1.1
-
It's new. :D
-
Well I would certainly remember seeing that before and there is no way that it's in my version!
-
I kept on going back to the Submarine, it looked like something you should be able to interact with.
-
Some objects like the Strange Tree do give that impression but so far no one has found a way of interacting with them, but we will wait and see :D
-
Well, you can clearly see that it is broken, try to find a new protective glass and maybe you can then interact with it/use it. ;)
-
There is a picture of the complete window in the gfx file, but it's definitely not in the game. That would be a great idea for a new patch / sequel / mod. :)
-
lol

Actually, the glass is unbroken when you first encounter it, but it shatters if you hit it with energy. Most probably you hit it off screen when you where killing some of the other creatures around.
-
Great find, SevenMass. I must have shattered it when sniping the starmies. :)

ya I would be firing like crazy in the starfish gauntlet most likely. we wrecked Li's ride!

oops. :D Ah, okay! :) Cool!

I need to make a correction here.
I could have sworn I saw an unbroken sub there on my previous swimthroughs, but when I first encountered this thing a couple of hours ago, on my 3rd swimthrough, it was broken when I encountered it. And I did not fire any shots when I entered that area, until after I passed the sub, aside from two almost harmless flatfish, there are no enemies near that sub.
-
Maybe it randomly toggles on and off, like the assorted birds, dragon, and windmill in the intro? :)
-
Sorry to disappoint you SevenMass (and the rest), but there are no graphics of a whole submarine in the folders of Aquaria.
So... that's impossible.

???

There isn't any in mine folder, and I'm sure I haven't altered it.
Furthermore, the only glass things in Aquaria are the shards on the edges of that sub and the cage Li was in, further nothing.
If you however have the file, I'd love to see it.
-
I couldn't find anything either, just wondering about the contradiction.
The Sun Temple has those glass cupolas for song plants, though.
-
There is a picture of the submarine in the gfx folder - I'll edit this post when I find it.
[EDIT]: It's under "li-sub"
[EDIT]: Sorry - I couldn't find a picture of the complete window, though it might be hard-coded...
-
what does hard coded mean?
-
Not customizable; baked into the game so deeply you won't even be able to view it without going into the game.

Exactly. :)

Fish form man, fish form... I found it so convenient and used it so frequently in that part of the game that I had to have someone tell me that the starfish try to kill you.
But back on topic, I just did a quick run through that area and did not see the sub. Can someone tell me precisely where it is? Did I just miss it or is it something else? Does anyone know exactly which version it first started appearing in?
-
I'm using the mac version 1.1.0. It is in the second veil area where you will also find the sun temple, you can not miss it as there is only one passageway and that is where the sub is, right after leaving the first veil area. (aside from ancient sea turtle, but you have to activate that turtle first so you will still pas the sub at least once)
(not counting the frozen veil)
I double checked and can't find any graphics on a non broken sub either. Yet I still remember I once passed that sub and broke the glass, even accompanied by a sound of the sub breaking. Maybe my brains are playing tricks on me!
-
It seems like the glass breaks at the merest disturbance of the waters around it. :) The mystery of the sub remains... ;)
-
No proof of any entity, graphic or node in the game or the folders, I think this myth is busted. ^^
-
Seems like it ... until Alec says otherwise. :)
