I'm working on my boss killing speed and on really all there's some point where you just blast with energy form, which brings me to my question: what's faster, single shots or charge shots in terms of damage/second? If i have a wall I can execute the 6-shot charge shot pretty much every time so assume for this a charge shot is the 6 shot charge shot. Anyone know about this?
Correction: Nature doesn't have a wall to boost from :-[

Well, when looking into the source of the game the normal Energy shots do 1 damage and the charged shots do 1.5 damage.
The only thing I don't know is what the firing rate is of the normal and charged energy shots are.
Though I think in the end, if done perfectly each time, the charged shots would be quicker. However, if you don't use walls, I know for sure that the normal shots are better.
-
The question is whether you can reliably fire 6 shot charges in less time than it takes to fire 9 normal shots. I'm not sure that's possible, since the energy shot cooldown seems to be practically nonexistent. I'd think you'd have to having the charge timing down so fine that you're entering your flourish at the same time the charge finishes building.
There's also the question of how many charge shots reach the target. Since they fire in all directions the paths of each bolt are different and some could easily hit a wall or miss a smaller weak spot. My gut says firing a continuous stream of energy that you know is going to all hit home would be better.

I have found using the normal shots beat them far faster than the charged ones, the reason is mostly because while you are charging up they are damn well killing you and you need to keep replacing lost life. So now I use a food to boost the normal shot and spam like crazy saving the charge shot just for the pearls or the odd occasion when I feel like using it for some reason lol
-
One case where the charged shot can do more damage in a given time is when the enemy or boss quickly hides its weak spot after it's hit. In some cases, you can get multiple charged bolts to hit simultaneously, but the normal shots are too far apart to hit it more than once before the vulnerability closes.

Like the octopus or the crab? I still spam even them :D
-
Normal charged shot doesn't make much of a difference in that situation: to fully harness the power, you have to shoot a six-shot blast. This is often difficult when projectiles and enemies are flying around like snow (like in Hiro's mod :) ).

That is one technique I haven't tried, so how do you do it Chibi?

Never occurred to you to do a forum search for the six-shot blast, Silver? ;)

It's a fun trick. If you release a charge while dashing off of a wall you'll fire 4 shots instead of 3. To get the full 6, charge, dash off a wall then if you dash again immediately you'll notice Naija spins. Release while she's spinning for the big money
-
You can also get a 4-shot by flourishing at the end of a standard dash.

Besides it makes us newbies feel special helping out a forum veteran ;D
-
There is that too. :D I am of the opinion that no matter what your age or experience, there are always things that you don't know :D
-
To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge.
- Benjamin Disraeli (1804 - 1881), Sybil, 1845
Apt quote in this circumstance. :)
-
Aw man, I was feeling all proud of myself thinking to add some special effect to flourishing in a mod. Oh well.

And Leonardo da Vinci was of the same opinion :D

As was William Preston:
"The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing."
-
That's certainly a mind bender. :) How can you know that you know nothing if you, indeed, have no knowledge? My head! ;)

Preston clearly stole from Sokrates, I hope you know that. ;)
-
I remember that vaguely from first semester philosophy. :)

Who could forget?:)

But it's only when you leave the teen years behind that you can admit to knowing nothing... A mother's words......... lol
-
It doesn't really end. Every ten years or so you look back at how you used to be and think "god damn, I was so stupid back then"...
-
It kind of eases of when you reach 50 Align lol And it's almost doesn't exhist when 60 is just around the corner lol
