I went to open waters and down, down, down into a cave with dragon statues and then went somewhere new in that area and found a song plant that birthed two lavender-grey blue-eyed shrimp that I tried to bind and tried all the forms I have (nature, normal, energy, fish) and no reaction; don't know what to do with them. So I killed one. I don't think I can take that back, can I? Once you've opened a song plant it's toast. Did I need two of them? Do I need to start the game over? I feel like such an idiot!!!!!
-
No worries. Some of the plants just have a bit of wildlife. I have no idea why, I guess they occasionally got bored with stashing food items in them.
-
Sindhi - there's almost no point in the game where making a bad choice ruins it. Saving frequently - (save right before a difficult section, and create a new save point afterwards if you want to go through it again) all but makes the event an impossibility.
-
I think there was a song bulb with a monster in it, no worries on your end there :)
-
Whew, thanks you guys. I went back there and the bulb was there again with only one shrimp in it, but his buddy appeared later. This was in that cave with all the bones. Then I ran into leeches on the way out; boy, they are tough!!! I seem to be stocking up on everything and going to the same places over and over but I can't seem to go anywhere with a boss without needing another form-- spirit, sun or beast. And I think I need to defeat a boss to get them. Just wandering at loose ends, with a well-stocked larder. Yesterday I was bemoaning having no rubbery meat and now I am turning it down. Sheesh. Went into the abyss today and explored a bit by following some slightly lit fish but I kept bumping into the spiny sides and got out of there. Everywhere I want to go is behind a current, or steam, or thorns, or darkness. Feeling a bit frustrated. Glad to hear I can't screw up so badly that I need to start again. You guys are great.
-
If you'd like a hint where to go take a look at your full map. I may be mistaken, but there should be a bunch of transparent dots floating around your next objectives. I noticed it this play through, I don't think it existed in the earlier version of the game. It's not a massive spoiler, more of a 'head this general direction to progress the game.' You may have to move the map around to find it (right click and drag).

I thought I recommended you to stay away from the Abyss at all costs! Sheesh. :) Looking for trouble... ;)
Looks like you're making progress - good job!
-
yeah, Chibi, I don't plan on going back to the Abyss without sun form or something glowing. I was only in there for about two minutes. I think I'm supposed to do Mithalas next to get the Beast but I'm stumped. I keep going there and can't find any tunnels; put the grey coin thing in its holder but nothing happened. Can't find the spirit priests; they are hiding from me. Can't even get the anemone seed from the song cave, although I tried spearing the beautiful big blue guy with nature form, or getting past it with the fish and poisoning it with the fish. Maybe I'll go get the piranha pet. Realize I totally screwed up the Mother Nature fight; didn't occur to me to kick ass in there until the very end. Just kept floating around the edge using up defensive soups (saying "Ow! Urghh!" a lot) and staying away from the bouncers and I swear it took about an hour. The first time I tried I kept my finger on the mouse to match the note and my finger almost fell off from the strain. What a doofus. I will look at the map and see if I can find those little transparent dots; thanks, Delve. Hey, I know where the mini-map is; where is the full map?
-
Hit "Q" or I think double click on the mini-map. But all it's really going to tell you is where Mithalas is. If you've already been there it won't help.
-
The throne you attached the coin to is empty. The other 2 in the room aren't.
Classic Zelda puzzle, almost!
-
Sindhi - the spirit priests are an optional boss that becomes available after you receive the Beast Form. After you beat Mithala, go back to Mithalas City and explore all the areas that were previously inaccessible (blocked by currents).
[EDIT]: Are you sure you need the Spirit Priests to finish the game?
-
I don't think the Spirit priests are optional Chibi, you can't get spirit form without beating them and you can't finish Aquaria without Spirit form. Optional is a boss like Octopus prime or Simion Says, you can finish the game without going anplace near them. But you do need Beast form before you get anywhere much so place that coin and sit on the throne until the tunnel opens Sindhi.. :D
-
The throne is not empty. The grey coin is there from the first time I went to Mithala Cathedral. Put coin in. Sat, sat, sat. No tunnel. Went back and sat some more. No tunnel. Pillar is still there. Getting really frustrated. There are no places in Mithalas I haven't explored. Need the beast! Argggghhhhh!
-
Damn! That means that you need Alec's help sorry Sindhi, unless you want to start again from an earlier save? That tunnel really should of opened :(
-
I have no saves from before I went to Mithalas. Sent a message to Alec. Thanks, everyone-- I'm just the poster child for tech support as well as user support. Take care!
-
Actually, Fish AND Spirit are optional silverflagon, I should know, I finished the game in a speedrun without them.
I however really don't know how to fix that throne sit bug.
-
If spirit is optional then you can't of gotten all the memories so really you can't of finished the full version only an abridged version which is like buying a cake and throwing the best part away Alpha :o
-
It's still possible to progress through to an ending sequence though. Not the best one, by any means, but you wouldn't argue that finding all the mystic treasures and zodiac stones in Ogre Battle is required to win the game would you?
-
Oh the ogre can't be avoided at all, he needs to be defeated for Naija to be able to travel on and into the Body.
-
No, Ogre Battle is the name of a different game entirely...
-
I think that comment was deliberate. At least, I hope it was.

I did wonder about the zodiac stones but I thought that you were talking about the stones that the boy uses to build the woman, people call these bosses and the items by diffreent names until they know the real ones, and I still do at times.
-
I was referring to an epically long strategy game for the old SNES system. :) Sorry, I guess the reference is more obscure than I thought. I'm showing my age, and my game geekiness. At the same time. :o
-
Thanks everyone. Alec asked for my save file and I also started over. Yahoo.
-
Great - knowing Alec, he'll probably have your game up and running very quickly.
-
That's great Sindhi, keep in touch and let us know how you get on :D
-
I honestly hope Alec can figure out what has gone wrong, and not only fix the save file.
-
I think sometime no matter what a game designer does to cure bugs, a computer will often undo his work or gamers will continue to find those that he's missed ::) ::) ::)
-
It's a losing battle - as long as game developers have deadlines and / or other pressures, bugs will remain.
Cave Story is one of the very few games I've played that has no bugs whatsoever, but Daisuke Amaya spent five years polishing it. This (http://www.destructoid.com/indie-nation-6-cave-story-70328.phtml) article describes the fact perfectly, and even mentions Aquaria. :) (http://www.miraigamer.net/cavestory/works/Quotewalk.gif)
[EDIT]: Sorry for the digression, but I just started playing Cave Story.
-
That was quite an interesting read Chibi and I might also play it sometime?
Talking of bugs though, I had a strange event happen tonight when fighting the Creators third form? I finally hurt him enough to send him running for the next level when I must of killed him instead so we both transported into the next area with him already transformed into the strange baby/boy? Has that ever happened to anyone else?
-
Nope, haven't had that, I think I know how it happened though, usually, when you are in the small cave where the 4th stage is you need to hit him twice more, maybe you had the volcano roll or something, or maybe you hit him twice in some way?
I should try this out myself.
-
I didn't use any of the food that increase the power of the shots, I just spammed like crazy from almost withing those mandibles so it was probably over kill lol
Yes I do normally need to shoot him twice more in the other games but this was really weird and I sat through his first notes wondering what had happened and then shot for the safe area fast lol
