The more content I see from this creation, the more I'm getting interested in it. I hope it follows the zelda, metroid, aquaria game mechanics, but find new content is always nice too. Definitely looking forward to more of the awesome artwork and music!

Aren't we all. ;D
[EDIT] We is undefined, so it could mean you and me, everyone who's seen Marian, or just me and my imaginary friend. ;)
-
I can't speak for other Chibi, so no I couldn't say that.. but I'll definitely voice my opinion that I'm definitely anticipating more awesome previews of their work on the project. :) I felt the same way when I saw Aquaria in the works a couple of years ago.

What is the schedule? Do we have to wait two years again or only one because you are 4 people this time? ;)

We have a couple other projects we have to finish first, and in the meanwhile we're trying to see what our options are for funding Marian. The budgeting and scheduling will likely be related to how much funds we can put together and where its coming from. (i.e. if its coming from a government fund, we'll probably have rigid milestones, but we might have to wait a long time to get approved. If its a private investment, it could be anything)
It also depends how we're going to release the game, and we have a couple different options to look at for that as well...

Canada is going to be THE place to be for Game Development thanks to you and Infinite Ammo Team, Alec. Keep up the enthusiasm and hard work and your success will always be with you! And I'm sure many of your fans as well. :)
-
Sounds like something big. Great! :)
Should I win the lottery, I fund you. ;)
-
Xiagan, could you fund me too while you're at it?? :P lol
;D
...you could do it just because you are cool. O0
HAH!
-
Sorry Alec I didn't win the lottery.... Yet again! ::)
-
Silver, you have to play it in order to win it. sheeeeeesh. :P
-
I'm really excited about Marian too!!! But the projects they're currently working on are also pretty amazing so I feel I can wait patiently :)

You do like to torment us with little hints all the time, right? ;)

Guess he never changed! :D

Well it's a long way before Marian is ready for release yet, so if he told you everything now you would not get to experience the joy of discovering the game's intricacies and secrets when it does come out. :)
-
Heh, I'm sure our plans for the game will end up changing significantly anyways. :)
Things tend to evolve...
-
I'm sure for the better. : )

And who said that I didn't play it? ::) 6 numbers and only one of them mine as usual :P
Alec it seems that you are an expert at torturing us poor gamers ::) :'(

I would have thought the money you earned from Aquaria would be more than enough to invest in your next project(s).

Nope. Especially not 4 people.
Clarification:
I could probably fund -some- money, but I would be paying people far less than industry standards. That would be doable, but it would be better to have more breathing room. I'd also end up working for free for the duration of development, cause it would make no sense to pay myself - which would feel kinda unfair to me. Addtionally it would be a big risk for me, cause I'd like to be able to put away money in case the next game I do totally fails. Being an indie game developer is actuallly kinda scary in that way.
Anyways, its an option but it would be pretty rough for me I think.

yes being self employed is a risky game, no pun intended Alec. If you are working for someone you can usually get help if you lose your job, but if your business gos bust there is usually no safety net unless you have already made a mint and placed it in an account that the debt collectors can't find and that is highly illegal :o
My parents owned a shop so I know somethink of what it can be like to struggle while everyone thinks that you have loads of money :(
-
Well once I've made it big I could give you funds...but you'd have to work faster than this.

When I was living near Van I used to hang out with those dudes. They're good folks. :)

Oh I really like Prof Fuzzwizzle even though I have only played one on line game with him in but it was fun :D

Working at a bank opened my eyes to see how some businesses are really doing. Having to tell someone that their check won't pay is not fun.
Also, my mother owned a cafe where she struggled to pay the rent. Oblivious, my family would always beg for free food. After 2 years and had to close it down.

That game is offered on BigFishGames.com too. I wonder what kind of deal they get from those guys. I would think Aquaria is too high quality to be on BFG though.
-
BigFishGames.com is evil, they only have so many original games, and the rest is filled with about 5 or 6 games which are altered and given a new look and being sold under a new game.
Just like Reflexive, just like Gamehouse, all those evil sites.

I would say they are more sneaky than evil. They know what's worked in the past and keep handing out the same thing with different clothing. The fools fall for it. I don't know how they do business, but I wondered how much they would pay to have a game on their site.
The point is, Marian and Aquaria are WAY too precious to equate with that crowd. I personally hope the best for Alec and the gang financially and creatively.

In case any of you didn't hear about it, Alec has released a first teaser trailer for Marian! Check it out here. (http://infiniteammo.ca/blog/marian-teaser/) ;D

O boy!
Eileen Holowka, as well?

Eileen Holowka, as well?
Alec's little sister was used as a live-action reference for the animation because she is of the same age and size of the titular heroine :)
...also I think she inspired some aspects of the character...

Nice! Enough to peg up my interest. :)

I can't wait at all until Marian!
I first heard about it a few years ago when teaser/concept art was posted with a potential piano-based theme song.
The whole idea of a delicate, puppet trying to find her own destiny away from the hands of the puppet master was so sweet and poignant. I really think, despite some similar synoptic links and callbacks to Aquaria, with the creator/Master idea, Mario will take all of the most powerful elements and themes of Aquaria - loneliness, yearning, and run with them in the extreme.
I really can't wait at all.
My fingers are twitching to fanart! xD
The travelling music is absolutely fantastic. I love the musicbox/child's lullaby motif. It really goes so well with Marian's context, much like the flutes did for emulating a watery kind of environment for Aquaria.
Without a doubt, Marian is going to be something truly exception. And I can't wait!
