Title: Screen Tearing not fixed by latest drivers
Post by: rizwank on January 02, 2009, 09:42:36 pm
Here's the story. Bought the game on Steam yesterday. Tried to run it, game was throughly unplayable - tears and blocks and random lines in the screen, I had to ctrl alt del to even find a way out of the game.

Read the forum, updated to the latest ATI Catalyst drivers and tried again. No improvement. Turned off one of my monitors (dual monitors, even though when I tried to play the game as fullscreen, I only went to 1024x786), and tried again. Finally was able to see some of the intro anitmations (but not all), but the game was still nearly unplayable once I clicked new game.

no apparent quality different between 1024x768 and 800x600, and no quality difference between vsync and not.

Turning on framebuffering makes the gameplay worse.

What's going on?

(ATI X700, Pentium 4 @3.4Ghz, 2GB Ram, Windows XP SP2)

Usersettings.xml probably won't help, it sounds like a video card driver problem.

check http://www.bit-blot.com/forum/index.php?topic=316.0 if you haven't yet

It's a desktop, and I've updated to the latest available drivers...

My bad.

I still think its an driver/video card/opengl problem, but you can try emailing me your usersettings.xml and debug.log files. Maybe there's something else going on.

Also if there are double / triple buffering options in the catalyst control panel, you can try those. They might make a difference?
