Alright, so I retrieved all the memories, got the screen which alerted me to a "new ending", finished the game - but got ending number 1, rather then 2. Could this be because I saved in multiple save spots during the course of the game? For me it's always been about the story, and I really, really don't want to go through that final boss battle again unless I know that the second ending will come up. Any thoughts? Help? Ideas?

There are three memories and for each a different ending I would imagine, so when you play again look for the other two memories as there are three memories to get the full ending.
If you want help with finding them just do a forum search for memories, but try and find them yourself if possible, just watch your mini map in the bottom right corner for secret passages. Some only show if you use Sunform though so be alert while you are swimming around :D

SPOILER ALERT - Memory Locations
Thanks for the reply. These forums saved my life many a time during the game. I'm pretty sure I found all three, one from the abyss, and in Mithalis, and one at the end of the Sun Temple. Each one showed a clip scene of the past. When I found the last one, I got a screen which said something to the effect of, you've unlocked a new ending, found all the memories etc. After I found the last one, I went and tackled the jellyfish boss and then down to the abyss for the final boss series, so I'm thinking mabye I opened and old save accidentally? It just doesn't make sense. I'm going to go back to the abyss and make sure I collected it - but other then that - I'm pretty lost.
-
What happened in the ending that you got?
(want to make sure you're not confused about which ending it is)
-
and did you do the bit after the credits had finished? (as that certainly looked like the new bit to me)
-
After the end of the credits it cut to a voice which said I was careless, too concerned with the end goal and not discovering Najia's memories, to go back and look again. BTW, just want to say I loved the game. I rarely play games, and to find one with the perfect balance of adventure/combat, that is also beautifully crafted, was a joy. Anyhow, any answers/pointers would be great. Like a said, I saved in a ton of save slots, not sure if this could have been part of the problem.
-
well, i just recently completed this and got a fuller ending after finding all the memories, it kicked in after the credits (definately different from the one you described)
if you had loads of saves, could you have re-loaded from one where you had missed a memory? have you gone back and re-checked the memory locations?
-
So your totally right. I went back to the abyss, pearl was there already, door unlocked, but the memory was still there. I'm thinking after I either opened an old file? Or forgot to save after picking it up, went and got slaughtered by the jellyfish, and forgot all about it. Whatever it was, I'm an idiot. Ah well. I think I'll be waiting awhile before going through that end boss sequence again, but who knows, curiosity might get the better of me. Thanks again.
-
Oh the end boss is not so hard the second time around, the King Crab and the Worm in the Light Temple are more difficult to beat.
-
My question is: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! I didn't see that ending coming. At all. Ever.
-
Join the club. :) I had a slight inkling, however. I suspected that anything so close to the Creator had to be tainted in some fashion.

I have a few questions that haven't been answered already (in places I've looked so far):
1. Who's the prone lady we see in the full memory ending, just after the closeup of Naija's son at the save stone and just before the shot of him in the ship? She's lying face down in some mossy rocks. Is this assumed to be Naija's offspring, as well? When does it imply that, if so?
2. Did I miss anything for not having all the treasures, other than the joy of having all the treasures? I'm aware that some are actually handy (meat pot, seed bag, outfits), but aside from that.
3. When you're going towards either form one or two on the final boss, there's all the symbols of bosses/monsters/gods I've defeated throughout the game. I think I got them all; would it show if I hadn't, like some would be greyed out and/or the door wouldn't open?
4. What's the deal with that song on the wall in the sunken city? It's after you've brought him past the three ghosts that transform, in the area where you sing him his mother's song and he opens the door. I've never figured out a use for it.
5. Is it likely that it will be another two years before we can expect the sequel? I want! I'll give you moneys...

1. It's Lucien's girlfriend.
2. Nope.
3.It would be the same even if you haven't killed all.
4. Don't remember atm...
5. Alas, it is. Nothing's certain...
:)

Xiagan those notes on the wall are the mother's song :D

But that contradicts with his sentence:
... in the area where you sing him his mother's song and he opens the door. I've never figured out a use for it.
-
He opens the door to the room with the Golem boss Xiagan, and the icons on the wall are the notes to sing but not quite in order, you need to adjust them a little to sing them :) I know because that is what I do now to get the door open :D
-
Try it :D

Man, I see what you mean, but that's really a bit of a stretch. I think it would make more sense for them to hint more in the mother's direction, than to put up a weird truncated version of the song you can hear in full from her.

From that to that? Kinda reaching...
Also, who's Lucien? Either I don't remember, or I didn't decipher the text about it, or something.
-
Lucien is Naija and Li's son (the baby you see in Naija's home just before Mia captures her).
-
Oh. Where is this found out? I never heard/saw any mention of his name.
Her weeping-ness makes more sense now, though.
-
Did you find all of Naija's memories? If not, you probably saw a message saying something like "You focused too much on completing the game and should go back and discover more about Naija's past." You get the complete ending, with Lucien with all three memories.

Ah! These notes! Nope, it's not far fetching. You play the first three notes and then the last, then repeat the first three and the one below the last, etc... ;)
The song played when you see him is called "Lucien". That was a big hint. ;)
-
I got the full memory ending, with the swirly passage to meet Mia, who then brainwashes me and sends the son on an airship quest in search of me. I still don't remember where it ever had "Lucien's Song" printed on the screen or in subtitles anywhere. Was it in Aquarian text? Is it only listed if you go rooting through the .ogg files, or watch closely as it's installing and guess? In the credits maybe?
If it shows up during the full memory end, if I could get a general time at which it mentions Lucien's name anywhere it would be great, 'cause I must have missed it. Then I could watch more closely the second time around. :)
-
Afaik you only find it behind the scenes. ;)
-
Maybe we should make the topic say *Spoilers*??

From that to that? Kinda reaching...[/quote] No not really because that would make it too easy :D

I managed to play the Mother's song by ear so I never really understood the point of the song on the wall, other than the fact that the symbols were in the same shape as the glyph that pops up when you play the song. Looking at it now, though, I can see how you can get the song from it.
Hint: Remember that a good portion of the song is repeating the same three notes, so there would be no point in writing them all out repeatedly.
Am I to understand that the ending you get after finding all the memories is basically the same as the one you get without finding them, but with an extra bit on the end? I finished the game with all the memories, should I go back now and finish it again without them to get the other ending?
-
I don't know because I haven't finished it without them yet but from what I have read here the ending is slightly different because you get told to go back and find them all?
-
Yes - the only extra part is Naija chiding you for rushing through the game and leaving her memories undiscovered, so unless you really like hearing Jenna's voice (understandable) :) it's not worth it.
