Hey, so I download & installed the new version, and checked out some of the new features. They look great!
But I was playing around with the controls and the middle mouse button doesn't work in-game any more. I went to change the input in the option menu, and then the game minimized the its window and a "Critical Error" message box popped up with:
Could not find actionInput: Look
and an OK button. I clicked OK and the game closed.
I can probably play around this but I thought I should let y'all know what's up.

Hi, this issue has been solved. A fix isn't out yet, but you can fix it yourself.
I assume you're running Windows Vista. (if not, let me know!)
You can either install the game to another directory (not program files)
or you can find where Vista has moved your usersettings.xml file and fix it.
The problem has to do with Vista's virtual file system and how it fails to update certain files.
I have a fix in the works, but it hasn't been tested on anyone else's machine yet. Would you like to test it? :)
-
Yeah I'm running Vista.
I'm cool with testing the fix.

Thanks! Check your forum private message inbox. ;)

Update: Confirmed - the fix works. I'll include it in the next version.

Glad to see that my posts helped: good luck on the new patch, Alec! (BTW, hitting E works no matter what I do, and I actually prefer it to the middle mouse button). I've also found that the save files stay where I want them in the desktop folder.

Well I'm totally cool with testing the fix, too y'know ! :D
Vista64 here, that means 2 Program Files directories already, and I don't want some games installed in yet another location, so I'm looking forward to the fix.
BTW Chibi, "E" doesn't work any better than Left Shift or the middle mouse button.
-
It doesn't? :o Then why does it for me? That must be the middle-mouse-button problem for me then. That's really strange.

Its because his usersettings.xml file is messed. You already fixed yours.

Oh. Righto. :-[ :) Forgot there.
[EDIT]: It appears that I cannot change the look function to the middle mouse button, but I can assign it to any other button.

i do have vista, and so would like to know how to manually fix this myself (i assume its a ini/xml file edit of some kind) before i actually run into the problem during gameplay.
Alec says that it can be done manually..... is that detailed in any other posts?

It won't be a problem for 1.1.2, so if you're waiting for that, you don't need to worry. 8)

if i play with a gamepad (360 wireless controller) will i be affected with this on 1.1.1 whilst waiting for 1.1.2?

I'm having a similar issue; when I try to access Key Config through either the in-game menu or the title screen option, it gives me the same actionInput: look error and crashes. I've located my usersettings.xml file, but I can't seem to find mention anywhere of how to actually go about fixing it.
I'm using Windows XP on a Dell Latitude D600, and playing using a Saitek P2500 USB controller. Using left Shift or E doens't work for me.

Did you try re-installing Aquaria to a folder outside of the Program Files directory? That was Alec's suggestion to me, and it worked flawlessly (I then found the real problem: my windows hide program was interfering extremely strangely with the game). Good luck!
-
Yes, that worked for me. I'm still curious to know what the fix to the .xml file is.

The fix to the xml file is described here. (http://www.bit-blot.com/forum/index.php?topic=1392.msg16418#msg16418) It didn't do anything in my game, but might in yours (I had an entirely separate solution).
