Wahh. I can't do it. He is just so tough. I have no spicy rolls... which means no energy boost. Plenty of soups, but the defense and speed wears off. I have been trying for hours, but he never seems to die. So two questions:
1. What is this spider food I am hearing about? It sounds useful.
2. Are there any tried and true strategies? I know switching between nature/energy/beast is one way. Any other techniques I should try?

Answering Question # 1: The "spider food" is a.k.a. the spider roll, and its recipe is the hand roll + the spider egg.
Answering Question # 2: What really helped for me was eating a speed soup and a spicy roll then spamming the boss until he got really angry (turned red) then switch back to normal, use the shield spell and reflect all his blasts back. Make sure that you use the beast form when he exhales or inhales. I know some people had luck trapping the worm in a corral of spider silk, but it didn't really work for me.

I use a soup swim fast and just spam like crazy, so I must succeed on pure luck each time? Well except for that time that I jumped out the top and had to find my way back up again to finish him of lol Well who would guess that there was an exit right there and especially in the heat of a battle :D
Just don't give in halo because it sometime takes more than a few goes to beat them, Octopus Prime is the one that got me beat for weeks until someone finally made me see the solution :-[

To keep the answer simple: yes. :) Don't worry, there are several more incredibly difficult bosses to defeat.
(related question: are there any more that simply involve spamming the attack button?)
To keep this answer spoiler-free: there are about three more bosses that only involve spamming the fire button (in the beast, energy/**al, and sun forms.)

^ Oh boy. I can hardly wait (can you feel the sarcasm running through your veins?). Anyway, I just beat the boss, but I feel like a cheater because he got stuck on one of the spiny ledges up above. I just kept shooting, and that was about it. Oh well. lol.
Anyway, now it's on to Octopus Prime, then I am going to backtrack a bit to get some food/treasures before I move on to the abyss. I may even try the Simon Sezz boss a couple of times.

You are going to LOVE Octopus Prime and Simon Sez. XD / ;D Make sure that you spend some more time in the Veil and sunlit regions: the Abyss and lower regions are large and very, very dark. :)

This game just keeps astounding me with it's sheer size... It is just so BIG.
I beat octopus Prime and got the cute little octopus pet. I think I am going to make my way into the dark regions now... Also, I FINALLY killed that little guy with the dark purple shell... and got the divine soup recipe as a reward! Yay! :)

in the greater Lego webiverse there are many acronyms, so many that the term CTOP was created, or Community Turn of Phrase (http://www.lugnet.com/~1285/CTOPsx). it was so often the case that people would say, 'I am member # so & so on this site' which of course is meant to bolster their community stock rating, or drop other numbers of otherwise heavy significance that the term NTNMA was coined, or 'not that numbers mean anything'
are the posts being made contributing to the community or rather increasing a personal stock ticker? it diminishes the contributions of other members if one's value is soley placed in a numerical quantity. ntnma.

No I've never bothered keeping a check on my stats either, it took another member to point it out to me the same as you lot did here, and I've never seen bit as rank before either lol
You can both pass me by any time you want, I have never been able to understand why posting lots is important, to me there are more important things, such as making every post a useful or inteligent one. ;D

Ive been messing around in the veil for a while now, something about the sun temple is fairly disturbing to me, i guess ill find out, but wow, what a hard boss, atleast there arnet any form changes involved.

Is it the lack of any living creatures, Chimera? That's the only thing that is different than all the other temples filled with unfriendly denizens. The Sun Temple was one of my favorite places, actually, but it lost this distinction once I found how small the map was.

Its not relly that there arent any living creatures, more that there are robot attempts at creatures. The fish plunges deep into the uncanny valley, and tr water striders are annoying, snails should never be that fast, or able to jump, and the crabs are just a pain in the ass. the insects are weird too, i cant wait too see what the hecck is with the sun priests and the mechanial creatures.

I saw nothing of the uncanny valley in the robots: they have no resemblance to humans whatsoever, and are well-done drawings. Also, the crabs are easy to defeat if you simply refrain from panicking and let the bullets circle around you. I found the machines pretty cool - especially the invincible robots. But that's just my opinion. :)

I cant beat this boss!!! URG!!! I cant form switch fast enough, and dont have enough health, i got the hiiden memory though, gear jumping is hard!

Stock up on:
Health Items
Perogis or spicy rolls
Divine soup if you have it.
Use hotkeys for switching forms... it is SO much easier than singing.

Chimera use 1= normal 2= energy 3 = beast 4=nature and 9=defense in normal form. there are more but I will leave you to find those out as they come along it's not too hard to do :)

You know what would really be cool? Being able to use the scroll wheel to change forms. That would be awesome, but would take some of the challenge out of the game (not to mention ruin the between-forms music and special effects).

THAT would be annoying. Im using a Mac mouse, and the scroll wheel is a ball, one tick on the PC mouse is 12 ticks on the mac mouse.

Haha - maybe not the best idea for mac users then. Yeah, the new Mac mouse is awful for switching weapons in games, but great for web pages and graphic designing.

Expecially on Legions. Im going to buy a PC mouse and keyboard, so i can have the Insert and PrntScrn buttons necessary for gaming. Im using a Mac with bootcamp with windows XP, and Aquaria is on XP.

I've heard a lot of people say that Boot Camp is the best for Windows gaming on a Mac.

I didn't know that macs had bad scroll wheels. >.< That'd just be annoying...
Not as bad as having only one mouse button though. Thats just being silly. I mean seriously? Good mouse please..
But I also agree that it'd be kinda sad if you could change forms with the scroll wheel. >.> I don't even really use the hotkeys, singing is fun. :D

No - he only roars when you tow a rock next to him, and sometimes glitches out of his den under certain circumstances (although I think the bug has been fixed in 1.1.1 (+.1 over the Mac version) :)

Yeah - that glitch happens fairly rarely - lucky! :) However, you missed an excellent chance to use the shield's reflecting ability to bounce the energy orbs back.
Next time insert a quote from Chimerathing's post - your post is a little out of context. Also doesn't the format below look better? ;)

No problem (and therefore no need to be sorry) - all part of the initiation process ;D. You'll find the shield remarkably useful - it can reflect every projectile in the game (but you have to refresh it pretty frequently against boss shots). Hope you enjoy the rest of the game! :)

Yeah - that glitch can either make your day (nexy's glitch) or ruin it (the Sun Worm magically disappearing or flying out of the chamber)

in a certain costume I found that I was staying in her natural form *most* of the time after awhile. and no, it wasn't the princess costume, although you know I'm very fond of it :-*

I had that happen to me once - I was blindly shooting at the worm when my shots stopped homing in - I looked down to check and there was nothing there! I had lost about ten minutes of spamming. >:( :)

I believe I had that happen to me in the original version. Hasn't been duplicated since.

Beat it earlier today with just spamming in energy form and using tough cakes to heal (also gives you a defence boost so consequently lost less energy being hit afterwards.
Would probably have swapped forms more, but I only just found the keyboard shortcuts. :P

I'm afraid that you're stuck until you improve your aiming (and maybe dodging) skills. My only recommendation would be to eat the two pulsing pink jellyfish in the tunnels above the Boiler Room - they give you an invaluable head start in the boss fight. Good luck, and remember to use a +1 or 2 energy roll when the Golem is vulnerable. :)

I think the engine for the beast form shot should be improved, the bullet only moves when youre moving, and it only launches in the direction youre swimming :(

Chimerathing - that's only a glitch with the controller; the aiming system works the same as energy form with a mouse and keyboard setup. No wonder you're having trouble! :)

Try using another save to just practice the beast form shots Chimera, so long as you don't go saving after the practice you will be fine, and then you can return to the Golem better armed for the battle :)

That is really strange - I had no problems only being able to aim while moving; wait a second ... I remember a glitch with those same symptoms.
[EDIT] Sorry, my mistake - you were right. You can't shoot and move in beast form, though is it confined to version 1.0.3?

This is sort of a bug. It happens if you move with the keyboard and then shoot with the mouse. If you only move with the mouse, the beast projectiles will correctly shoot wherever your mouse cursor is pointing. (edit: or if you last moved with the mouse)

Go figure, i use wasd and mouse, but i use mouse for Arnassi Race and Wall Climbing. I use keyboard because you go faster in the direction you need to go, which is useful for any boss that swings at you.

Is that you being witty Chibi? The mouse is far nicer to use and I am sure that it's faster because you have to keep moving your fingers from button to button and in those short seconds Naija can be moving in another direction entirely if using the mouse.
And how you get the short fast burst of speed when using WASD, I supose it's possible but I have never tried it?

It's just a heated spam battle - not particularly hard if you swim and click rapidly. :)

Hi when i killed him, i was only swiming around him and blast energy beams until he died. But then i haved paied a wisit in the abyss so i had the jelly suit. but it was a hard price being in the abyss whitout anny ligt :( but swim around him continolusly that is werry god on bosses. (sorry for the speling)
