Checked the news on www.bit-blot.com? The mac version got relased (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/aquaria/)! And even earlier than we thought. :)
You, without a mac, can be happy too, because the windows patch will now come quite soon too. ;)
-
Yay!
GJ Alec and Derek, I know it was a long and frustrating process....
I'm happy he'll be working on the windows patch now because I don't think he wants me to play it without the patch.
And I really want to play it.
-
Woot! And it was the last day of school for me today too..
Ahh...I can't wait for that patch and OST. :D
-
YES! The windows version must be soon to come...if Alec's hard drive is intact. :o
This is the greatest Aquaria-related event since the Seumas-McNally Prize - let's hope it exposes a huge amount of people to the game. :)
Great work Alec + Derek! ;D
BTW: it's puzzling why Aquaria was labeled a strategy game when it is almost completely an action game. Strategy is an important factor, but not enough to define the game as a whole. To label it properly, you would have to label it as an "Epic-beautiful-action-strategy-related-semi-rpg" Because Aquaria deserves a category of its own. Rant of the day, lol. ;)

Good call. I suggested they change it to "Action Adventure" yesterday, but they haven't done it yet.

Action Adventure is a much more appropriate moniker. Strategy as a genre is nothing close to what Aquaria is, and had I read that as it's genre I probably wouldn't have given it a second look. It's an important distinction.

Ambrosia's past two 2D scrollers have been put in the action category, so I'm sure they'll do the same for Aquaria.
Though, Alec, I would also suggest you ask them to put up a link to an add-ons page on Aquaria's profile page. This would be greatly appreciated! :D

Yeah, you could bring that up on the Amb Aquaria forums for them to consider. :)

Haha, it's so funny/cute to see players discover stuff, bugs, be enthusiastically about other stuff, etc... all over again. :D

Yeah brings you back, doesn't it. :D ;D All the 1.0.3 ones have been found (hopefully). :)

Yay one step closer to v1.1.0 on windows. I am now back in the good ole US of A and with a nice surprise! My wife went and bought me a new laptop. :) Definitely a nice change having the 4 Gigs of Ram. I was a bit worried when I'd have to deal with windows vista 64-bit, but it's actually kind of nice since it runs both 64 bit and 32 bit programs. Yes it does have issues with some software, but it actually hasn't been that hard to find new programs that either do the same thing or more, or find upgrades that support the OS. And to a nice surprise, Aquaria seems to run perfectly without any problems, and runs a WHOLE lot faster. :)
Any estimates on how long it will take to get the windows version up to date with the mac one Alec? I know it's out when it's out, but with the progress of the mac version being completed it definitely seems a lot closer to seeing all the new goodies.
Also looking forward to that OST! :)

Congratulations on the new machine Danger, and welcome back to the States, E.E.U.U., États-Unis, or أمريكا. (British, Spanish, French, and Arabic respectively). :)
You wouldn't believe the joy it gave me to be able to play Aquaria in 1024 x 768 without lag. ;) Good luck with Vista "snickers for no reason whatsoever" ;)

Wow, grats DM! :D
And haha, yeah. Wow, its been a while since I've read a post like that. :) Happy for the mac users.
-
That's wonderful DM :D have fun but do remmber your wife sometimes won't you lol
-
silver: "won't you"? ... perhaps: 'wants you?'
Anyways, thanks for the welcome backs. It's definitely good to be back. Certainly look forward to spending the next 3 years living on Kauai Island though. :)
I haven't had any problems at all yet with vista 64-bit, of course it has it's annoyances with the "Are you sure you want to do this" pop-ups, and has some annoying enabled administrative rights must be enabled annoyances, but other than that I've managed quite well. Haven't had any issues with most of my 32 bit applications. Most of which I use are portable applications anyways. Just got all my codecs sorted out, 32-bit and 64-bit. My wife just got Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended installed on her vista 64 new laptop as well.. yeah, she bought one fer herself first. lol Of course she asked me if she could. I'm definitely looking forward to using that software again, since I haven't touched Adobe Photoshop since CS2, and instead have been relying on Gimp Portable for all my artwork needs.
When I got back I had 2 weeks of paid vacation, so I got settled back in at home, and took the time to get adjusted to life back at home with our 2 children and my wife.
-
I have vista 64-bit myself, and I actually like it (does that doom me to a life in purgatory? :D) The only annoyances are the incessant pop-ups: "Cancel or allow?" "Allow." "Cancel or allow?" "Allow." "Cancel or - fizzle, crash ;)
-
LOL ;D

Wow nice one DM. GL with your new lifestyle. :-*
I'm just in the middle of my exams at the moment so yeah, should be studying. But I'm allowed to have study breaks sometimes! :D
I hope the windows patch beta comes out in like a week after all my exams (and I hope that I get in of couse xD ) so that I can dedicate the appropriete amount of testing time it deserves. ;)
The mac version comming out just recently is a good sign for that. ^-^
