Title: Demo crashes on startup
Post by: Warpspasm on June 14, 2008, 04:18:01 pm
I've read some great things about this game and watched the videos on the site. I downloaded and installed the demo to try the gameplay, but everytime I try to start the game it crashes back to the desktop. I ran EndItAll to close anything in the background, but it still won't launch. I even tried reinstalling the game. Still no good. Can you help?  Here's what I have

Windows XP Home
Homebuilt system
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35 D3SL
CPU: E4500
Memory: 1Gx2|Crucial  Ballistix DDR2 800
Power Supply: OCZ 700W GameXStream
Graphics Card: EVGA 8800GT 512M

Thanks

Hi, sorry to hear that you're having problems.

There are some known issues that have been fixed in 1.1.0, but its not out yet. There's a chance that one of them could be causing this crash.

If you'd like to send me your debug.log, that might help. It should be in the c:\program files\aquaria demo\ directory. You can either post it here or email it to zaphire@gmail.com

Thanks! :)

Sorry to take so long to answer. I guess the notify of new email message got caught in my spam filter.

I looked at the log and all it has is:

DSQ init
Mipmaps Enabled
DeveloperKeys Disabled
VoiceOvers Enabled
Init Graphics Library...

Shouldn't there be more?

Yeah, I think this might be fixed in 1.1.0...

So maybe you should join the beta (http://www.bit-blot.com/?p=69). :)

Just mention that you had a problem with the demo version and put the details in your email! Thanks.
