Title: Feedback Guidelines
Post by: Alec on May 19, 2008, 10:41:46 pm
I'm posting this because there seems to be some misconception about how to help improve the game. If you are actually interested in making it a better experience for everyone, then it might be a good idea to avoid the following approaches.

Some things I've seen that I'm tired of:

"You don't care about what we think!"
This simply isn't true. While we made the game primarily to our own taste, we do want other people to play the game and enjoy it. We didn't set out to make annoying situations for the player. Some of the changes we're making in version 1.1.0 are to make things easier for players who ran into trouble in certain areas.

"I hate you / (expletive-deleted) / etc"
That's great, but unfortunately I can't do much about it. We are who we are, we do what we do. We try to be as upfront and honest about what we're doing as possible. If you can't stand that, then it might be easier for you to go post somewhere else, maybe about something you like?

"I hate this game because of (list of issues that are being fixed)"
If you notice that issues are being talked about, solutions being proposed and changes being updated on the front page, then you probably don't have to get angry about it.

"I pirated the game and now I'm going to rant about how much I hate it"
I really don't care about trying to improve the experience of people who have absolutely no interest in supporting us. The indie developer <-> customer love has to go both ways.

--

I consider anyone who purchased Aquaria to be doing more than just paying for version 1 of a game. They're investing in both the game, and us as a company. Its true that we're not perfect, and our games aren't likely to be perfection either. But we do care about our game and our customers and we are always striving to improve upon what we've done.

I welcome any feedback that people have that will go towards bettering the game.

True that!  In fact, if more versions come out I'll invest in those too!

Like I said before, if there's going to be a CD with soundtracks or a Disk version of the game I'll get it just because the game is awesome and of course to support you guys. And the thing you're tired of... you have all right to, I too get annoyed by the people that repeat the same things and keep complaining and I didn't even created the game, go figure. :p

But yeah, this is a good post, maybe a idea to pin or sticky it, maybe even in every thread. =p
