Title: Aquatic Elves in Oblivion look very familer!
Post by: finalfrog on April 13, 2008, 09:48:12 am
I wasn't sure which forum to post this in, so forgive me if I jumped to the wrong one.  :P
*WARNING MILD NUDITY*

Someone made this awesome race for Oblivion and I instantly thought of Naija. The modder doesn't mention Aquaria, but it really reminds me of it which makes it all the more special.   :) If anyone else out there plays PC Oblivion this race is awesome and great for a unique character.

Well I'd judge a resemblance but the picture is members-only, and I don't feel like going through all the trouble. :P

Whoops. >_> I forget that people outside the Oblivion modding community don't have accounts there. Here's the pictures:

That's very nice, I like it a lot, thought I don't know if it's because of the nudity of the scales or the Naija resemblance, but yeah looks alike.

Then a small question, are there uncensored versions? =p

They're not censored ingame.  He just blurred the pics (although I don't know why since there are other nude pics on that site...).  I would definitely use that for a new female spellcaster if I wanted to make a new char.  I havn't played Oblivion in a while though...God I must have wasted hundreds of hours in Obliv.

Wait a tic...what are their stats?

In Str/Int/Wil/Agi/Spd/End/Luc/Pers
Male + Female: 30/40/30/50/50/30/50/40. Adds up to 320 as all balanced races should. They've also 10 points of resist fire and 10 points of weakness to frost, as well as a permanent water breaking ability. =)

ah...sort of a mix between a Dunmer and an Argonian.  It looks like they're more natural assassin's than spellcasters though...I wouldn't expect that from a water elf...I would have given them more int or wil, 40/40 would have done fine.

As for Alpha...GET IT AND PLAY IT FOR ETERNITY.  Seriously, it's awesome.

Eh, The Elder Scrolls series was something I wanted to play for a long time I just never got to it, don't even know why. But yeah, once I have the money, I'll pick up a copy.

EDIT:

So, yeah, after begging with my dad, who always has some money in his back pocket, I bought the game and installed it and now trying to immediatly adding the mod, but I'm failing hard.

Someone know where I can get help without looking like a total Oblivion-newb/noob even though I know I am? =p

EDIT:

Okay, I got further, but now everythign but the head is pink. :/
I suck at this.

Hmm...you're probably missing that text file...archiveinvalidation I think it's called.  If you manually install a mod without using one of the various programs (which are NOT compatible with all mods mind you) you have to add the textures to the archiveinvalidation text file.  If I could find my damned disc I'd be a little more helpful...I probably left it my parents house dammit.

Ok, after looking into the mod further, and judging by only the head being correct...I would say you did one of two things:

#1:  You failed to download the required body mods that he mentions in the readme.
#2:  You failed to copy the correct textures for the body mod you decided on from the "extras" folder to the "textures" folder.

Yup, I downloaded everything, it was the second one. I kind of forgot to think rationally, because I thought that the texture and the model were one and the same file, Stupid me, thanks Glamador. ^..^

But now I have another issue, Argonians and Khajiits have no eyes, they're just not there, propably the same issue, but at the loads of Mods I installed with the Aquatic Elve I can't seem to find it anywhere. Got a solution for that one too? =p

Er...afraid not.  I can only assume it's a biproduct of the eye color mods you installed with the Aquatic elf.  I couldn't be sure until I find and reinstall the game...which won't be for another 3 weeks.  Of course, knowing Oblivion, you'll still be playing it in 3 weeks.

EDIT:
The only pack I see that even messes with eye textures is the Rens Beauty Pack mod.  Check your Textures/Characters/Argonian/Eyes folder and see if there is anything there.  If there is, delete it.

Aight, thanks again, I'll try it out when I get home, and I'll probably will indeed still be playing this in 3 weeks. =p

EDIT: Nope, didn't find anything. =/

I did notice that everything but the Imperial and Elfs have no eyes.

Well I see what you mean.  I got home now and finally reinstalled Oblivion.  I had the same problem with the eyes.  As far as I can tell it's one of the Hair packs that the mod required.  Thankfully once you've created your character, you don't need to have those packs active anymore.  Just turn them off and play normally.  But if you ever want to make a new character using those mods, you'll have to turn them on again.

P.S. Oblivion is still awesome the 5th time playing.

Hah, so yeah, I completed all side quests first, then started with the main quest, which is pretty awesome, but short, very, very short, especially if you just run through Oblivion. =p

Yea I completed the Mage's Guild questline first, took me a day and a half.  The main quest line isn't THAT short but compared to the overall scope of the game...yea it's short.  The thing is, for any character you make not only do you have the main quest, but every character has at least 1 guild to join (2 if you're a stealthy character) and if you bought Shivering Isles that's another 30-50 hours of play right there.  The game is seriously incredible in it's size.  Besides, the Main Quest is just to justify it being an adventure and not just "run around Cyrodil for 200 hours having fun".

What do you mean has at least one guild to join, I joined EVERY guild and I didn't even touched a walkthrough, they all just came towards me, most of the time anyway.

Aaaand I still mourn for the Quests of the Dark Brotherhood, I hated the Purification quest, I spend about 2 or 3 hours to find some sort of way to find the real culprit. =[

But yeah, I think I might try that Shivering Isles expansion too. Do I need to make a new character orr...?
Title: Re: Aquatic Elves in Oblivion look very familer!
Post by: Glamador on May 16, 2008, 08:54:25 pm
Nope, you can use your old characters.  In fact I always wait until at LEAST level 10 before going to the Shivering Isles because the quest rewards are so damned good.  But when given the choice be sure to side with Mania if you like magic and Dementia if you like stealth.

And I mean from a role-playing perspective there's at least 1 guild.  Sure you can join them all, but what fun is sneaking around when you built your character to pummel?  And why would a pure fighter join the mage's guild?  Sure you CAN join all of them, but I usually make a character designed towards pursuing a certain path.  That's totally your choice though.

Sorry for the bump, but I just thought you guys might like to see my pure mage, Naija.

She's 32 and specializes in Conjuration of Gloom Wraiths and uses a one/two punch destruction combo that first weakens defense to magic and lightning, then follows up with a DOT shock spell on touch.  She gets right up close and personal.  If I really wanted to role play, I guess I would summon plant creatures and only use ranged fire spells (I would shoot wierd projectiles like in beast form...but I'm limited to frost, fire, lightning).  But here she is.

Nice pic but I really wonder what that public call police box thing is. :p

And I think the color of her skin is different, but that just might be me being colorblind.

Seriously nice though.

Ah I was hoping somebody would notice that.  I'm using a mod that makes a useable TARDIS appear by the Arcane University.  You can use it to transport yourself all over Cyrodil and it comes with spellmaking and enchanting altars.  But I don't consider it cheating because Frostcrag Spire (which comes packaged with Knights of the Nine) gives the exact same amenities.

Few more questions...

Teleport or transport? Without wasting time?
Wtf is TARDIS?
Frostcrag Spire packaged with Knights of Nine?

Oh...since you noticed the Police Box thing I just figured you for a fan of Doctor Who.  the TARDIS is his spaceship, that appears on the outside to be a police box.  Frostcrag spire is one of the official plugins that you get in a package along with Knights of the Nine, another official plugin that's just a bit larger than the others.  And yes, teleport without wasting in-game time.  Very useful.

If you got the Game of the Year edition of Oblivion it comes with all the plugins as well as Shivering Isles.  Dunno why you didn't just get that one since it's 60 bucks nowadays.

Very nice Glamador and I love your Tardis, I am a long time Dr Who fan right from the very first episode :D
Just one critique if you don't mind?
Looking at her feet and the size of the paving and then looking at your Tardis it makes your Naija a giant with the Tardis coming to just under her shoulders was this meant to happen?

Hahaha, no no no.  She's not actually that tall.  I was in the menu screen (which allows you to rotate and view your character) and the way the menu works is that it superimposes the character model over the normal gamescreen.  Funny how I managed to crop it to look like she's standing there...amusing.  Here's an updated picture with some other angles.

Keep in mind I didn't make that TARDIS mod or her clothing, those were just my choices of mods.  The Elder Scrolls Nexus is the best place for mods (and I betcha if you can think of it, there's a mod for it).

Oh I see Glamador, and there I was thnking that your avatar was a giantess as well as a Mage lol This Oblivion sounds very involved so perhaps it's best that I avoid it I have very little time to spare as it is  ::)
